Everyday people are born and people die, but the most important thing is what you will do with the time in between. All the time we catch ourselves going through the motion of school, sports, and homework. We are never promised another day or even to finish the day we have here. So the best you can do is take this day and live it to the fullest. Do not take it for granted because there is something you can do to better yourself. The best we can do is be prepared for a tomorrow but not to expect it. “Don’t put off to tomorrow for what you can do today” Thomas Jefferson. This does not mean live like there is no tomorrow because then we are back to living with no purpose. Our biggest struggles come from doubts, but the doubt of no tomorrow should only inspire us to make the most of the day that has been put in front of us.
Throughout your life you will come into contact with people that will become your friends. There is a big difference between having acquaintances and having friends. You can find out who your true friends are when you are in a time of need. They will be the ones to come, help, and reassure you when you are struggling. A true friend sticks with you and will not talk about you and will be uplifting and encouraging people. The acquaintances will be easily persuaded to turn or leave. As I watch my dad make tough decisions in his business I can see who his true friends are because they will always be there to encourage and most importantly listen. One of the biggest things a friend can do is listening. An    acquaintance might listen but does not mean they will help or consult you with the situation. One of the best things that can happen to someone is if they surround them self with people who care.

My name is Chad I’m in the tenth grade at West Florida High School. These nine weeks I read the book “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. This book teaches us how to live when you know you are fixing to die. Randy has pancreatic cancer which is very deadly. This disease only allows him to have a few months of good health, but his delimma is that he wants to finish what he started. He decides to go through with the lesson to show people how to live with a person. Through this book we learn to never give up and always live with a purpose.
